By Seattle standards, Georgetown has an affordable housing market comprised of both historic houses and new construction townhomes. Georgetown’s rich architectural history gives tenants the opportunity to live in a hip, vintage, industrial neighborhood without paying downtown Seattle prices.
Georgetown’s winding, pedestrian-friendly streets make it the perfect place to wander and discover its many bars, restaurants, and coffee shops, but if you’re looking for a few recommendations, here are some of our favorites:
A Brewery Tour of Georgetown
Georgetown boasts many Grade-A breweries, which makes it the perfect place to bar hop, or to nurse a brew while chatting with friends or sharing a round of darts. These breweries are all within walking distance of each other, which means you can safely get from one to another without driving:
Georgetown offers kitschy shopping opportunities for thrifters, gifters, and more.
Furniture & Home Decor
Whether you love antiquing or you’re trying to live a more sustainable lifestyle, you’ll be thrilled with Georgetown’s furniture consignment options. Here are a few off-the-beaten-track options that we recommend:
The Trailer Park Mall
Like a year-round art fair, Georgetown’s Trailer Park Mall is a collection of stand-alone trailers that feature original art, crafts, and mini-thrift-shops for your perusal. Some weekends they even have kid-friendly activities and they are an active participant in the neighborhood’s monthly Art Attack.
Fantagraphics
If you are into the indie comic scene, Fantagraphics is the place for you. This independent publishing company’s storefront is located in the heart of Georgetown. They feature a broad range of comics, graphic novels, and illustrated novels—many by local and west coast authors. Their store is conveniently connected to Georgetown Records, where you can browse their vinyl collection and occasionally enjoy a live show.
